In-House Diagnostics

Quick and Accurate Results

At Woodbury Animal Hospital, we are equipped with advanced diagnostic tools to quickly and accurately assess your pet’s health. Our in-house diagnostics allow us to perform various tests and imaging procedures, providing immediate results and enabling prompt treatment. In cases requiring further evaluation, we collaborate with specialists to ensure your pet receives comprehensive care.

Diagnostic Imaging

We utilize advanced imaging technology, including digital X-rays and ultrasound, to diagnose a wide range of conditions. These non-invasive tools help assess internal structures, detect fractures, evaluate organ function, and identify abnormalities. Our digital imaging capabilities provide high-quality images with minimal radiation exposure, ensuring a safe and efficient diagnostic process.

Radiology (X-rays)

Digital radiography is an essential tool for diagnosing fractures, organ abnormalities, and internal injuries. Our advanced X-ray technology provides clear, detailed images while reducing radiation exposure. Some pets may require sedation to ensure stillness during imaging, allowing us to capture the most accurate results.

Ultrasonography

Ultrasound uses sound waves to create real-time images of internal organs, helping us diagnose conditions affecting the heart, liver, kidneys, and reproductive system. This non-invasive technique is safe, painless, and does not require radiation. In some cases, sedation may be necessary to ensure accurate imaging.

Tonometry

Early detection of glaucoma and other ocular conditions is essential for preserving your pet’s vision. Using a tonometer, we measure intraocular pressure quickly and painlessly, without the need for sedation. If your pet exhibits symptoms such as eye redness, squinting, or excessive tearing, contact us immediately for an eye pressure evaluation.

Dermatology (Skin)

Skin conditions in pets can arise from allergies, infections, parasites, or underlying health issues. We diagnose and treat dermatological problems through physical exams, skin scrapings, biopsies, and lab tests. If your pet is experiencing excessive scratching, hair loss, redness, or lumps, our team can develop a tailored treatment plan.

Pain Management and Control

We are committed to ensuring your pet’s comfort by offering comprehensive pain management strategies. Whether due to surgery, injury, or chronic conditions like arthritis, we provide tailored pain relief plans, including medications, laser therapy, acupuncture, and chiropractic care, to enhance your pet’s quality of life.

Cardiology (Heart)

Heart disease can affect pets of any age, and early diagnosis is key to effective management. We assess heart health through physical exams, electrocardiograms (ECG), radiographs, and ultrasounds. Symptoms such as coughing, rapid breathing, lethargy, or weakness may indicate a heart condition—contact us promptly if you notice these signs.

Endoscopy

This minimally invasive procedure allows our veterinarians to examine internal organs, retrieve foreign objects, and collect tissue samples without traditional surgery. A small camera is inserted into the body, providing a real-time view of the esophagus, stomach, intestines, and other areas. Endoscopy requires anesthesia, but it offers faster recovery and less discomfort for your pet.

Veterinary Specialist Referrals

While we handle most medical and surgical needs in-house, we occasionally refer patients to board-certified specialists for advanced care. Whether your pet requires oncology, neurology, or specialized surgery, we coordinate with trusted experts to ensure they receive the best possible treatment. We stay involved in your pet’s care and provide follow-up support as needed.
